Enrol in this class

Classes run 90 minutes, 10 weeks per term. Payment by bank transfer. Levels rotate each term. If the level you need isn't listed, tell us and we'll start a group once four students are ready.

Translation & interpreting

Documents, certificates and correspondence between Portuguese and English, handled by the same team that teaches. Send us the file and we'll quote.

About us

A little piece of Brazil, two minutes off Chapel Street.

Portuguese Classes Melbourne started with one teacher and a handful of students who wanted to speak, not just study. It has grown into the city's largest Portuguese teaching team, and the classes still feel the same: small, chatty, and a bit loud.

We teach Brazilian Portuguese, in our South Yarra studio and online, from absolute beginners through to C1.

Founder & director

Livia Marra

Livia grew up in Brazil and finished a degree in Psychology there before moving to Australia for a Masters in International Community Development. Teaching Portuguese started as a way to stay close to home, and turned into the thing she wanted to do properly.

She started PCM with a handful of students and one classroom. Her measure of a good class has not changed since: people leave having said something they could not say when they walked in, and they laughed at least once doing it. She is also a qualified counsellor and therapist in Melbourne, which is probably why nobody feels embarrassed making mistakes in her room.
